Hello, welcome to Futangxi (Shanghai) Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.

How to choose suitable offset printing ink?

Offset ink can be divided into sheet-fed offset printing ink and rotary offset printing ink according to printing machinery. According to different drying methods, it can be divided into penetrating offset printing ink, thermosetting offset printing ink, UV/EB offset printing ink and iron offset printing ink. Different types of ink have different printing adaptability and uses.

Selection of Offset Ink by Different Printing Machines and Different Substrates

1. Ink for web offset press

The ink used in web offset press is what is usually called offset printing wheel ink. This kind of ink can be basically divided into the following two types:

Permeation drying type: Because the printing speed of newsprint and offset web offset press is higher and the drying speed of ink is faster, the commonly used ink is pervasion drying type.

Thermosetting ink: In modern commercial roll offset press, drying device is added in the second half of the printing device. To adapt to this production condition, thermosetting ink is used. This ink is heated in the drying device. Solvent volatilization in the ink makes the ink film dry rapidly, and the content of dry oil (such as linseed oil) in the thermosetting ink is less. But the content of petroleum agent is more, and other components are slightly the same as the ink of sheet-fed offset press. The paper using thermosetting ink is better than that using osmotic drying ink.

2. Ink for sheet-fed offset press

high gloss offset ink

Offset bright ink is made of synthetic resin, dry vegetable oil and high boiling point alkane oil. Colloidal ink composed of high quality pigments and additives. For printing albums and pictures on coated paper by monochrome, bichrome or multicolour offset printers. The bright and fast-drying BO series offset printing ink introduced by Mingbo Company is just suitable for this kind of printing requirements.

Offset resin ink

Offset resin inks are made of synthetic resin, dry vegetable oil, mineral oil, high-quality pigments and fillers, which are prepared by mixing and grinding. Offset resin ink is characterized by low vegetable oil content and high solvent ratio, usually high boiling point alkanes, which play a role in reducing the viscosity of ink. When the ink is transferred to the paper, this part of the solvent quickly infiltrates into the paper fibers under the action of capillary, which speeds up the drying speed of the ink and reduces the printing dirty faults.

UV offset printing ink

In offset printing, the use of UV ink for printing, commonly known as UV offset printing. UV offset printing ink is a kind of ink which uses the radiation energy of ultraviolet (UV) to make liquid chemicals cured into ink film by rapid crosslinking. It requires a UV curing unit in the printing press. As a kind of offset printing ink, UV offset printing ink should first be able to print by offset printing. Therefore, UV offset printing ink should also have some characteristics of ordinary offset printing ink to meet the requirements of printing suitability.

Offset synthetic paper ink

In the absence of UV offset press, offset synthetic paper ink is required for special paper which is not easy to dry on the surface of the substrate by using some inks such as cardboard and synthetic paper on the usual four-color printing press. This kind of ink is suitable for printing non-absorbable self-printing substrates such as synthetic paper (gold cardboard, silver cardboard, aluminum foil paper), and its inks are dry on the printed matter. Quick, good adhesion points. Because the drying speed of this kind of ink is very fast, when the printing process stops, the ink on the cots should be cleaned in time to prevent the ink from crusting and drying. For example, Mingbo PO series synthetic paper offset printing ink.
